finally, finally.....shop update

i feel so ridiculously slow and embarrased that it has taken me this long to add anything new to the shop.
i have had little time to make and create, but i have had time.
i have probably two dozen pieces that are making it into the shop both this week and next.
among these pieces are a handful of necklaces, lots of earrings, and a couple of rings.
the colors and styles of the pieces will vary greatly since they were made over several months time.
these earrings are some of my favorites and i can barely stand to let them find a new home.

this season bravo has a new series called work of art.
(a project runway knock-off.)
'artists' must create a piece of art (2d or 3d) based on theme or material.
i watched a very short segment of one episode and did not particularly care for it.
the contestants seem pettier than what i would prefer and i am not sure i believe art can be created on a deadline.
can you tell i did not go to art school?

anyway, etsymetal is taking the work of art challenges and revamping them so that we can then create pieces of jewelry around coinciding themes or materials.
episode four had the contestants make a 'shocking' work of art.
here is my translation......
something sweet and feminine on the outside, but naughty and unexpected on the inside.

it might just be a miracle...

i am FINALLY updating my shop with some new pieces.

i have been working quite hard to produce some new work (and some old work), but the rain has prevented me from taking pics.
it finally let up and i will be frantic all week trying to create more for the chimneyville arts festival and trying to take pics of everything i have lying around.

after admiring maggie j and sara westermarks hollow form rings, i knew i wanted to make one.

this week's project runway challenge was to make a show stopper that was sparkly and shiny.
i thought this would be the perfect opportunity to combine some modern metalwork with my new rose cut gems.
this ring was fabricated from scratch and features two green amethyst gems.
i plan on exploring hollow form rings more in the future.

just to clue everyone in, i have not just been sitting around eating bonbons lately; i am pregnant and have been feeling rather pathetic.
and now really isn't the time for feeling completely exhausted every minute, or getting a cold that i can't shake, or worrying about what parker will do for his first year of school in the fall.
but, admist all of this, i was able to participate in fondren unwrapped last week and it went much better than expected.
over the next couple of days i will be listing old and new items in the shop and then plan on having a SALE this weekend to kick off online holiday shopping.

yes, i know, its about time.
things happen and i just couldn't quite get it together to mail these out on time.
i am pleased with them and think they represent my work.
thats the thing that is most exciting to me; the opportunity to own something that is so representative of another metalsmith.
we have been uploading pics of our charms and i have to admit i am getting rather giddy thinking about all the new beautiful things i will own.

now that these are completed and in the mail, other things will be showing up in the shop more frequently.
